Plants that BEAT the Summer HEAT!

During the summer people tend to not water their plants as much as they should because of summer activities and vacations. They simply don’t have the time. This may discourage you from your love of plants, but don’t give up just yet.

Do you ever notice how much money you spend on vegetables, herbs and fruit? Do you know what kind of chemicals are being sprayed onto the products that you are buying? Sure you can purchase only organic foods but the cost is just too much sometimes. I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to be able to go out into your own back yard and pick the freshest produce whenever you want. It’s so much better than going to the store when it’s right at your fingertips at home.

Pumpkins 101

A little history of the Pumpkin… The word pumpkin originates from the Greek word Pepon and believed to have originated in the ancient Americas. Early Native Americans used the pumpkins as a food source, cooking it in many different ways and using the Blossoms in stews. Without pumpkins Native Americans may not have survived through the harsh winters. The dried shells were used as bowls and storage containers. The seeds were used as medicine.…

Summer Container Gardening

As I sit here on this beautiful Spring day I imagine all of the captivating colors of summer flowers so vibrant and pleasing to the eye. Garden beds filled with blossoms of every tint and shade of the colors of the rainbow. For those of you who cannot have that garden or simply want to beautify your porch, deck or anywhere else there is always container gardening! With container gardening, not only do you get the beautiful flowers but you also get to choose your own patio pot to fit your outdoor décor. Here are a few things you will need to get before you begin.

Preparing for the Gardening Season
