It’s been a long, cold, snowy winter and we are happy to announce the Garden Center is open for the season! While the snow was falling, Winterberry has been hard at work thinking of ways to make this season an unforgettable one, from ordering new plant varieties to creating exciting hands-on classes to growing pansies in our retail house. We are thrilled to share some of the excitement with you right now!
Looking to get out and into the garden as soon as possible? We are too! For the first time ever, Winterberry is growing pansies and cold crop vegetables in our retail greenhouse. Liven up your beds and planters with bright shades of purple, yellow, orange and ruffled magenta. Mix in some broccoli, brussel sprouts and lettuce and you will have a garden that’s not only beautiful but delicious too.
This is the year to learn, since we are offering numerous hands-on classes. Start off the spring season thinking of Mom! Our first fairy gardening class is scheduled just in time for Mother’s Day for you to build a miniature garden with your loved one. Next up is a vegetable class with Winterberry’s head grower and experienced home gardener, Sebby. Come and learn the basics of vegetable gardening and all of the tips and tricks to become successful in growing your own delicious vegetables. Can’t get to the beach this summer? Head on over for our beach themed fairy class including shell planter and fairy succulents. For all you fellow Pinners, we are offering a fun air plant terrarium class with decorative glass globes and brightly colored sand. Due to popular demand, Winterberry will be wrapping up its season of classes with our Spooktacular Fairy Gardening Class.
Now for my favorite part of a new season, new plants. As a Hydrangea enthusiast I can’t seem to get enough of all the different varieties of Hydrangeas, there are so many options to choose from. This year we will be carrying some new repeat bloomers, new dwarf varieties and of course the tried and true varieties we all know and love. It wouldn’t be right being in Connecticut and not loving the Husky basketball teams. So to show our love and support, we are carrying the Raise the Roof series of Rhododendron created by one of UConn’s top plant science professors. These Rhododendron are bred specifically for New England’s tough winters and the flower colors are out of this world. There are more new plant varieties coming into Winterberry this year that you will want to see for yourself so come and visit us today.
This is just a taste of all the new things Winterberry will be offering this season. We are now open seven days a week and are eager to bring Spring into everyone’s life. Be sure to ask about our Plant Perks Program to begin earning your rewards.
